Gender and Development

With a view to ensure a gender-just development, the organization promotes the approach of Gender and Development (GAD) formation of groups of women, adolescent and men groups through community based organizations at the village level is the modus-operandi in this regard. The groups meet regularly on the issues like reduction of girls’ drudgery, promotion of girls’ education, personal sanitation and hygiene and gender justice at family level.

Advocacy against child marriage, promotion of joint property rights of women, opening of joint bank accounts of women, promotion of girls’ education and vocational training leading to sustainable income. The trainings include tailoring and beautician courses and life skill.

For promoting gender equality, it is necessary that the organization’s workers are first made gender sensitive. Towards this end, special gender trainings have been organized for coordinators and facilitators by resource organizations like Caritas India, New Delhi and UKSVK, Agra. Apart from this, a few workers of the organization have received training from North Region Social Development Centre and developed their skills.

The trained coordinators have imparted training in the field for women groups, adolescent girls groups and men groups. They laid emphasis on ending gender discrimination. Gender sensitization meetings are organized from time to time to promote equality of women and men. Equal participation of women and men has been ensured between women and men in these meetings.
